The Arenal Volcano Hiking Tour begins with transfer service from your hotel to the active Northwest side of the volcano. From here you will enjoy a relaxing hike either to the "Los Tucanes" trail at the National Park, or the trail leading to El Silencio Mirador. Now days there is a new private reserve named 1968 right next to the National Park that is being used by some of the local operators.
During the hike it is possible to observe a wide variety of species of plants, wildlife, and even lava rock formations. The views of the Arenal Lake are auspicious, and sunsets there are a must see. The tour includes an experienced guide that will provide insightful and educational information regarding the magnificent mountain range and the adjoining Arenal Volcano National Park.
The tour concludes with a stop at one of the natural mineral hot springs in the area to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul (optional). Note: Entrance fees to the hot springs are not included.

This amazing project is located in a lush rain forest preserve amid 250 hectares of protected land.
You will be able to trek along 3 kilometers of walking trails, passing 15 bridges, 6 of them are hanging bridges with a secure and unique design – and view the forest and wildlife.
One of the hanging bridges is called The Waterfall Bridge and is over 60 meters high off the ground. Another one is called The Tyra Bridge and is 98 meters long, just to give you an idea.
In this tropical paradise you can find 250 species of birds, including: The White Hawk, Great Curassow, Rufous Motmot, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Black-throated Trogon, just to name a few..
Many reptiles like the: Fer-de-lance Snake, Boa Constrictor, Basilisks Lizard, Glass Frog, and Poison Dart Frog inhabit the area. Amazing mammals like: Howler Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, Tyras, Coatimundis, Three-toed Sloths, White-collared Peccary, coloful butterflies can also be spotted.
One of our major attractions is the Night Walk where you can see a lot of wildife, such as Olingos, Kinkajous, Bird-eating Tarantulas and beautiful Coral Snakes. Once you´re at the Pilón Bridge you are treated to a perfect view of the surrounding area.

This is a combination of horseback riding and hiking amidst a lush and beautiful landscape. These horses are trained to take you all the way up to the waterfall through green pastures, forest and high hills. The views of the San Carlos valleys and the Tropical Forest that surround the waterfalls are spectacular. At the end of the road we will dismount from the horses and walk down a path all the way to the base of the water fall, which is 65 meters. high. This area is very quiet and special and allows one to relax and enjoy a good time.
On the way back we will come visit a private farm of 400 hectares, where will be able to see Toucans, Oriels, and a large variety of flora and fauna. Also, we will be able to see one of the larges trees in the area
We will ride through different cattle ranches and cross 3 different rivers.

Enjoy the best rafting trip in the Sarapiqui River. The rafting adventure takes place between two little communities, La Virgen and Chilamate. It is a very safe section as it is formed by continuous rapids of crystal clear still water pools. On this trip you can experience 4 class II and 20 class III sets of rapids, all of these ranging from beginner level to moderately experienced.
The Sarapiqui River is characterized by its crystal clear non polluted waters, this allows the adventure enthusiast to enjoy a landscape teeming with life which can be discovered, often with the assistance of our naturalist guide.During the middle of the trek, a stop will be made on the side of one of the rivers; a still water area where visitors will be able to swim and then stop to taste the delicious tropical fruits of the season.

Río Toro Rafting
The Río Toro explodes with a series of over 45 continuous class III-IV level rapids – you'll spend more than 2½ hours rafting through a mostly unexplored, tropical wilderness on a personalized (small group) tour. The exciting Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna.
Experienced and first-time rafters will revel at the Río Toro during a full-day of class III-IV rafting. The Río Toro offers over 45-continuous rapids along more than 16 kilometers of deep-canyon gorges and waterfalls where one can often see sloths, monkeys and tropical birds, such as toucans and the Montezuma Oropendula.
Imagine rafting through exciting, action-packed rapids with names like "the Danish Taco," “Coco Loco,” “The Eraser,” and the famous “B-F-W!”
This thrilling, adrenaline based adventure departs at 8:30am from our office in La Fortuna. The Río Toro is the closest class III-IV river to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano – only 1 hour away!
Once at the river, our experienced guides will go over in detail safety issues, get you set-up with your helmet, life jacket and paddle and then you're off – you'll be paddling for more than 2½ hours – we'll stop along the way for a nice, tropical fruit break and afterward we take you out for a typical Costa Rican “casado” lunch. You'll return to La Fortuna and the Arenal Area around 3:30-4:00pm (the Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna – it is much closer than the Sarapiqui).

Rafters should be within the ages 13 to 55 and in good physical condition. Although you don't need experience, rafters should know how to swim and take with you secure shoes and dry clothes to change into.
Please note: if river conditions are unsuitable for the Río Toro, our lead guide might make the call to change to a back-up river of equal level and/or offer our half-day whitewater inflatable kayak or raft tour – you're always guaranteed a fun day on the river!

We will begin the journey on a transfer from La Fortuna, as we are wisped around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," From here we start the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we arrive, we will visit the lagoon that is perched on the top of the hill, where we can swim besides the edge of the lush environment, taking photos and discovering the natural surroundings. Then, we continue descending,
through a very dense forest, where one can appreciate birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees, as well enjoy the sensation of liberty having the beautiful views of the San Carlos Valley and Arenal Volcano as a backdrop. The end of the walk will be in La Fortuna Waterfall, where we will descend again in order to arrive at the base of the Chato Hill and enjoy an auspicious natural landscape. After a refreshing swim we will return to La Fortuna town by car.

The wildlife reserve Caño Negro is one of the most important reserves for bird watching and nature enthusiasts in Costa Rica. Caño Negro is also home to many sloths, monkeys, caimans, bats and numerous tropical plants.

This tour begins at 8:00 a.m. and is a new and exciting way for visitors to see the Fortuna area; a combination that was created for lover natures. At Danaus Eco-Center, our first stop, you will enjoy and learn about the natural history of the butterflies of Costa Rica, like the Blue Morfho, Monarch, Owl butterfly, Swallow tail and many more. You will also see a great variety of tropical plants and traditional crops, organically farmed in the gardens. Our next stop is in La Fortuna Waterfall. This waterfall has a huge swimming hole with large rocks nearby, perfect for a rest after and invirogating swim. Then we drive back to town to have lunch at the “Lava Rocks Restaurant.” About 3:00 p.m we start the tour to the volcano. We have a choice of which natural trails to choose from. Either way you will see a great variety of plants, wildlife, the magnifecence of Arenal formed lava rock and the surrounding forest. We walk up the lava formations and watch the sunset as we await darkness. A sight not to be missed. A full active day ! Now, put on your bathing suit again to relax in the thermal waters of Tabacón Resort for a few hours and then get ready for a scrumptious dinner that will be served there.
