Arenal Volcano Hiking Tour
It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, magnificent lava rock formations and the Arenal Lake just in time for sunset! During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the mineral hot springs (optional). Note: Entrance to hot springs is not included

As well, once you´re at the Pilón Bridge get a perfect view of have a perfect perspective to see the lava flow from Arenal Volcano… straight ahead… from the treetops! That's just the animals, but the diversity of trees plants like, Orquids or Elephant Ears is tremendous and incredible.

Enjoy the best rafting trip in the Sarapiqui River. It is done between two little communities La Virgen and Chilamate (7.5 miles). It is a very safe section for it is formed by continuous rapids of crystal clear still water pools. On this trip you can enjoy of four rapids class II and twenty class III, all of them of a good technical level.
The Sarapiqui River characterizes by its crystal clear non polluted waters, this allows the tourists to enjoy a landscape full of natural life which they discover thanks to the assistance of our naturalist guides. In the middle of the way, a stop will be made in one of the river sides, a still water area where tourists will be able to swim and taste the delicious tropical fruits of the season.

The Río Toro explodes with a series of over 45 continuous class 3-4 rapids – you'll spend more than 2½ hours rafting through unexplored, tropical wilderness on a personalized, small-group tour. The exciting Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna.
Experienced and first-time rafters love the Río Toro for full-day, class 3-4 rafting. The Río Toro offers over 45-continuous rapids along more than 16 kilometers of deep-canyon gorges and waterfalls where we often see sloths, monkeys and tropical birds, such as toucans and the Montezuma Oropendula. We operate small, personalized and private tours and we are the only company who runs the Río Toro!
Imagine rafting through exciting, action-packed rapids with names like “morning coffee,” "the Danish Taco," “coco loco,” “the eraser,” and the famous “B-F-W!”
This thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime adventure leaves at 8:30am from our office in La Fortuna. The Río Toro is the closest class 3-4 river to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano – only 1 hour away!
Once at the river, our experienced guides will give you a thorough safety talk, get you set up with your helmet, life jacket and paddle and then you're off – you'll be paddling for more than 2½ hours – we'll stop along the way for a nice, tropical fruit break and afterward we take you out for a typical Costa Rican “casado” lunch. You'll return to La Fortuna and the Arenal Area around 3:30-4:00pm (the Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna – it is much closer than the Sarapiqui).
Rafters should be ages 13 to 55 and in good physical condition. Although you don't need
experience, rafters should know how to swim. Secure shoes and dry clothes to change into.
Please note: if river conditions are unsuitable for the Río Toro, our head guide might make the call to change to a back-up river of equal level and/or offer our half-day whitewater inflatable kayak or raft tour – you're always guaranteed a fun day on the river!

We begin the journey transferring us from La Fortuna around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," there we start the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we arrived up we go to visit the lagoon on the top, where you can swim besides taking photos and discover the surroundings. Then, we continue descending,
always enclosed of a very dense forest, where you could appreciate birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees, as well enjoy the sensation of liberty having a beautiful views of the San Carlos Valley as well as of the Arenal Volcano. The end of the walk will be in La Fortuna Waterfall, where we will descend again in order to arrive on the dot base of it and enjoy a beautiful natural landscape that makes it very special. After a refreshing swim we will return to La Fortuna town by car.

The wildlife reserve Caño Negro is one of
the most important reserves for incredible bird watching and observation of wildlife in Costa Rica. Caño Negro is also home for many sloths, monkeys, caimans, bats as well as numerous tropical plants.
After a welcome drink and a snack, we slowly and silently cruise to this exceptional national refuge in our comfortable boat where you can enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna.
Upon return you will be served a typical, delicious lunch in the restaurant “El Caiman” which is nicely placed on the riverbank of “Rio Frío”.

This tour begin at 8:00 a. m. and is a new alternative for visitors to see Fortuna area looking for a different natural experience; a combination create for lover nature. At Danaus Eco-Center, our first stop, you will enjoy and learn about the natural history of butterflies of Costa Rica, like Blue Morfho, Monarch, Owl butterfly, Swallow tail and many more. You will also see a great variety of tropical plants and traditional crops, organically farmed in the gardens. Our next stop is in La Fortuna Waterfall. This waterfall has a huge swimming hole with large rocks nearby, perfect for a rest after and invirogating swim. Then we drive back to town to have lunch at “Lava Rocks Restaurant.” About 3:00 p.m we start the tour to the volcano. We have a choice of natural trails to take which depend on wich side the lava is flowing down. From any of them, you will see a great variety of plants, wildlife, the magnifecence of Arenal formed lava rock and the surrounding forest. We walk up the lava flows and watch the sunset as we await darknes to see and hear the glowing rocks of lava tumbling down the side of the mountain. A sight not to be missed. A full active day ! Now, put on your bathing suit again to relax in the termal waters of Tabacón Resort for a few hours and have dinner there.
